Wretched (Never After, #3)
Evelina Westerly runs her family’s ruthless drug empire with equal measures of brilliance and cruelty, her days spent tending her greenhouse and avenging her sister’s murder—certainly no time for love. But when a one‑night stand turns into a dangerous obsession and the man at her side is revealed to be a covert DEA agent bent on bringing her down, what begins in hatred may just become something far more consuming.

Wretched Chastity
After her mother dies of consumption, Chastity is left with nothing but a failing boarding house, a mountain of bills, and the prospect of life in debtor's prison. To avoid such an end, she travels west as a mail order bride to marry Enoch Larson. Enoch has fathered two children with a prostitute who later on abandoned them, Gideon and Ellla, aged ten and seven, and Chastity quickly falls in love with them, seeing as they need a mother's care. It doesn't take long for Chastity to realize that Enoch is a drunkard and an outlaw with a crimal past that included stealing and murder. But Chastit

Nice, easy read
Chastity is a mail order bride who was sold damaged goods--her husband, Enoch, is an alcoholic and a train robber. He does, however, have two adorable children for whom Chastity is determined to be a good mother. In the meantime, Chastity meets one of Enoch's former "associates"--Lucian. They fall in love. Lucian wants her to leave Enoch, and run away with him. She won't leave the children, and Lucian is fine with them coming too. She has to decide whether she will do it or not. Chastity talks about her "Christian" duty--but I'm not sure just how Christian she really is--she witnesses a

Charming
This story was charming. I do not read, normally, a book written in the first person but from start to finish I really liked the characters. They were real and I could 'see' them in my mind's eye. Ms. White has presented this story with real elements of life and did not sugarcoat everything. I will certainly buy more of her work.

Good Read
The story started out as any mail order story but with a several twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The characters are well developed, especially the character of the little girl. The heroine is a little confused about what is right or wrong but its more to do with how she was raised and what is lost, and what she had to do.

Interesting story
As a fan of clean romances I found this acceptable because there was no graphic sex. This was an interesting story with characters that seemed true to their time and place in the American west and was well written and authentic. I marveled at how Chastity demonstrated over and over again the plight of women at that time. Ms. White did her research well. I leave it to other reviewers to re-tell the story. Let me just say that this is a book worth reading. You will be captivated by the story and will come away with a much greater appreciation for women of that day.

Good clean book
I really liked this book. It was an honest look at a mail order bride who got stuck with a drunkard and an instant family. The author made it real when it showed how the children had been desensitized to violence and and a killing right in front of them. All was not all bad for the drunkard did raise the children on his own and never raised a hand to either his children or his new wife. It also has the happy ending for the children and wife with the train robbery money.
